Navigating Certifications during and after COVID- 19

The Peter Faber Business School (PFBS) at Australian Catholic University (ACU ) has incorporated Microsoft curriculum, and certifications across a variety of subjects currently offered. The combined effort of all staff involved has led to the achievement of earning a FLB L&T Innovation Excellence Award – Congratulations!

With both Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Fundamental Certifications embedded into a variety of subjects, students leave these units well prepared to use these skills in their future careers. The inclusion of these exams helps students to enhance their employment opportunities, boosts their self-confidence and gives them the chance to attain another tangible qualification on top of their degree. The inclusion of these qualifications in the curriculum gives students additional knowledge upon graduating from ACU, and into the ever-changing workforce.

Navigating COVID – 19 proved to be quite a challenge, though the staff at PFBS were quick to adapt. The Certification Exams are versatile, and changed to be administered via an online proctored system. This change meant that students could still be able to attain these qualifications with little disruption to their studies. With restrictions easing across the country, staff are looking forward to welcoming students back on campus for their exam, whilst maintaining online services when needed for a diverse approach to Certification.

These Certification Exams are currently held at five different ACU campuses across Australia, and this large logistics task would not be possible without the help of the staff involved. Laura Papadimos continues to proactively support both students and  fellow proctors by developing guides, and keeping up to date with changes in the services utilised. These valued members of staff also continue to troubleshoot any exam issues -both online and in the classroom to  ensure a smooth experience for students and staff alike.
